Night Rounds: End of Watch

A first-person anomaly horror game set in a police holding wing on the night shift. Walk the wing. Look for anything wrong. Report it at the panel. Get eight rounds right in a row and your shift is over. Get one wrong and the count goes back to zero.

Each round is one walk down the wing: the booking desk, the line-up room, two cells and the interview room. At the far end an airlock seals behind you, and a panel waits with two buttons: ALL CLEAR or ANOMALY.
Report right and the counter goes up. Report wrong and it goes back to zero, and the panel tells you what kind of thing you missed, never where. You may turn back to report.
EIGHT CORRECT ROUNDS END YOUR SHIFT.

More than thirty things can change in the wing. A man in the line-up stands a little taller. The clock runs backwards. Two signs trade places. A cell that had someone in it is empty. Most of them are quiet, and you have to notice.
The wing remembers what you have found, and it shows you what you have not.

Not every change is quiet. Some of them come for you.
IF YOU ARE FOLLOWED: GET TO AN AIRLOCK. THE DOOR WILL HOLD.
Get caught and you wake in the first airlock with your count at zero.

Night Rounds is out now in free early access. A perfect shift is eight rounds and takes about two minutes. Most first shifts take a lot longer.
The browser version is not the full game. It plays right here on the page, but its quality and lighting are lower. For the best graphics, download the full version.
This is an early build, and I want to hear what you saw, what you missed and what got you. Tell me in the comments. Every note is read.
Contains jump scares, flashing lights and sudden loud sounds. Headphones recommended.

Night Rounds: End of Watch is made by one developer at Wickhouse Games Studio in Godot 4.
How it was made. The people in the wing were generated with Meshy AI from the developer's prompts, then rigged with AccuRig and animated with Mixamo. Most of the sound effects and the menu music were generated with ElevenLabs from the developer's prompts. The rest of the sound is from Kenney and Freesound (CC0), the textures are from Poly Haven (CC0), and the lettering is Barlow Condensed and Share Tech Mono (SIL Open Font License). Nothing is generated while you play.
More from the studio at wickhouse.games and wickhouse.itch.io.

Install instructions
Two ways to play: the full version for Windows, or the browser version on this page. The browser version is not the full game. Its quality and lighting are lower. For the best graphics, download the full version.
The full version (Windows)
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Needs a graphics card with Vulkan support. The download is about 160 MB.

- Download. Press the download button on this page and save night-rounds-win64.zip. It is free.
- Extract. Right-click the zip, choose Extract All, and put it wherever you keep games: the desktop or Documents is fine. Do not play from inside the zip. Windows opens it like a folder, but the game cannot run from there.
- Run. Open the folder and double-click Night Rounds.exe. There is no installer and nothing is added to Windows.
"Windows protected your PC"? That blue box appears for any game from a small studio that has not bought a code-signing certificate. Choose More info, then Run anyway. It asks once.
With the itch app there is nothing to do by hand: press Install, then Launch, and the app keeps the game up to date.
Updating. Delete the old folder and extract the new zip. Your settings and the anomalies you have found are kept, because they are saved outside the game folder.
Removing it. Delete the folder.
The browser version
Press Run game at the top of this page. It loads about 82 MB the first time, then click to start so the sound can play. Use the full-screen button in the corner of the game.
Plays in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer. It needs a keyboard and mouse, so it does not work on phones or tablets. Lighting and detail are lower than the full version.
